Buffalo, the second largest city in the State of New York, is home to more than 256,000 residents. A major commercial and tourist gateway between the United States and Canada, the city is best known for its many historic homes, its location on the shores of Lake Erie, the extensive park system and as the place of the best chicken wings in the world! Buffalo is the corporate headquarters of a bevy of companies, including Rich Products, Delaware North Corporation, Sorrento Cheese and Labatt Beer.

One of the best parts of Buffalo is that it has big city vibes, but it is still easy to get around to different areas. Approximately 30 percent of the city’s residents get around without owning a vehicle. For longer trips, Buffalo International Airport is located just west of the city and offers non-stop flights to more than 30 cities around the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. More than 4.6 million passengers use this airport each year.

Buffalo residents have access to high quality medical care. Buffalo is home to two health care systems and eight hospitals, including Buffalo General Medical Center, which received high marks from “US News and World Report” magazine.

For recreation, Buffalo’s park system is one of the best in the United States. With parks laid out in the 19th century by Frederick Law Olmsted, the system is lovely as well as entertaining. Facilities include the historic Delaware Park and Front Park as well as the modern Buffalo Harbor State Park on the shores of Lake Erie. Of course, the local professional sports teams, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres have a feverish following!

School age residents of Buffalo attend the public schools of the Buffalo Public Schools, which operates 78 schools and has an enrollment of more than 47,000 students. Private schools in the area include Canisius High School, The Buffalo Seminary and the Nichols School.
